The Navajo Five Day Training for Trainers Course called 'Understanding Sexuality' is available to LGBT individuals and organisations (irrespective of whether they hold the Charter Mark).
The training course attendees are taken on a journey of experience and learn about breaking down stigma and discrimination, oppression and internalisation of feelings, and about sexuality, and equality and diversity. Participants will understand how to challenge homophobia. During the five days participants will have an opportunity to practice what they have learned. They will prepare and present materials and receive feedback from the trainer and other participants. The course ends with peer assessment, review and suggestions for additional training needs. This course is accredited by City & Guilds and runs regularly, dependent on demand. Currently offered via Lancashire Care Trust.
Basic awareness training on lesbian and gay issues is offered by a number of Navajo organisations, including Genderzoo, a team of professional and trainers based in Lancashire who have expertise in a wide range of health and social welfare disciplines. Their role is to work with statutory, voluntary and private sector organisations to meet priorities in providing services to people from the LGBT community. They provide consultancy and deliver training in issues of sex and gender diversity. Genderzoo is a Navajo approved LGBT Consultancy and Training service.
